The Camerata String Quartet has been performing at concerts and other special events such as weddings, receptions, dinner, parties, and educational programs since before 2000. Our members are performers and educators. We bring the study of music and knowledge of history to our work.
Music for our Summer of 2018 concerts will focus on the importance of culture in our society. How does history and cultural perspective influence composers and performers alike? Whether we examine classical, pop, rock, jazz, or folk genres, writers are part of their communities, both in the musical and ethnic/national sense.
Our concert will be very eclectic with performances being interspersed with background information and our own take on how contemporary music is influenced by the old masters. Folk music from the British Isles comes from Baroque rhythms. Rock music is influenced by Baroque chord structure and Classical period textures. Jazz style comes from another part of the globe, even as it exhibits as an American art form. American and British rock writers are interested in collaborative work and symphonic style.
