The History of Meyer Insurance Agency

    Meyer Insurance Agency’s History

Longevity is impressive, and Meyer Insurance Agency testifies to this truth. 2024 marks our 105th anniversary. The original Rolf Meyer Agency was founded in 1919 by Rolf Meyer at their home at 208 Phillips Blvd.

After Rolf’s death in 1955, his youngest son Paul and his wife, Barb, purchased the business. They ran the business together within their home.

Two further relocations and another generation later, Paul and Barb’s daughter, Lise Meyer Kobussen, joined the agency in 1994. Now the family business is in its third generation at its current location at 511 Phillips Blvd.

    Who We Are
Meyer Insurance has faithfully served the insurance needs of the Sauk-Prairie community for the past century. Life-changing events can be unexpected, and we want to be there for you in your time of need.

We offer personal lines of insurance including auto, home, umbrella, recreational vehicles and life insurance. Commercial lines include property, liability, workman’s compensation, business auto and inland marine.

    What Makes Us Unique

As an “insurance agency,” we are the middleman between the customer and insurance companies. Therefore, we work to serve your best interests, not those of the insurance companies.

Whoever said that insurance has to be a frustrating, jaw-clenching, tear-your-hair-out-and-cry experience? Or for some, is it more of an I-want-to-fall-asleep-and-not-work-on-this-massive-pile-of-paperwork?

Are you being redirected on the phone for hours through a complicated maze of 1-800 numbers without resolution? At Meyer Insurance, we believe in old-fashioned customer service that is hard to find today. Our agents have real and personal relationships with our clients. Many are local residents here in Sauk-Prairie or neighboring communities.

We want to know our customers and their individual needs. We want to help them through the claims process while also being sensitive to the difficulty of their personal situation. We want to answer questions about navigating the perplexing world of insurance.

Giving Back and Appreciating our Customers
Moreover, we believe in giving back—both to our customers and to the community. We have deep roots in Sauk-Prairie and contribute financially and through volunteer efforts with various organizations. We offer individual scholarships to graduating high school students, donations to the local elementary and high schools, St. Aloysius school, etc.
We also support nonprofit organizations such as:
    • 6:8 Inc.
    • Inspire Literacy Tutoring Program
    • Sauk County Historical Society
    • Sauk Prairie Area Historical Society
    • Sauk Prairie FFA
    • Sauk Prairie Fire on the River
    • Sauk Prairie Music Association
    • Sauk Prairie Police Department Kops for Kids
    • Sauk Prairie Theatre Guild
    • St. Vincent de Paul Giving Tree,
    • And more!

We appreciate our customers who trust us to have their back when hardship hits, and they have expressed their appreciation to us as well!
