Switchboard Operator
Posted: 03/16/2025ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Answers incoming calls promptly, professionally and politely.
- Identification of caller needs, answering questions, documenting the discussion, routing calls and/or sending electronic messages, according to clinic policy.
- Verifies the identity of the caller, authority to access information, and maintains patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations and clinic policy.
- Clearly and professionally documents electronic messages, including name, date of birth, phone number purpose of call, medication, and any other pertinent information.
- Must be willing to work hours as assigned including rotating Saturday mornings.
- Attends training sessions as requested and / or desired for knowledge and expertise.
- Participates in Prairie Clinic safety education, procedures, and drills.
- Understands and follows all Prairie Clinic employee policies.
- Participates in other assigned duties as designated by the Health Information Manager or Clinic Administrator.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to manage multiple phone lines, take accurate messages, and properly handle calls according to clinic policy.
- Accurate & efficient keyboarding and computer skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good interpersonal and organizational skills.
