Join a group of volunteers working to preserve the apple trees planted at the former Badger Army Ammunition Plant. These trees date back from before the ammunition plant and represent apple varieties that are no longer commercially available. We document, preserve, and transplant trees to honor the farm families who planted them.

The Alliance has been lovingly restoring prairie at the Sauk Prairie Recreation Area (former Badger Army Ammunition Plant) for 25 years. Work includes cutting and piling brush, pulling weeds, and monitoring the progress of the site. Bring your own drinking water and wear long pants, long sleeves, and sturdy shoes. The mission of the Sauk Prairie Area Literacy Council (SPALC) is to empower people of all backgrounds in the Sauk Prairie Area to successfully navigate the English language at home, on the job and in their community. We accomplish our mission by matching tutors with adult learners who have reached out to us expressing interest in improving their English language skills.
